Cerebroprotection mediated by angiotensin II

چکیده
asynchrony were highly restrictive and may have led to selection of patients with a very unfavorable prognosis. Fourth, we agree with Dr. Gasparini and colleagues that the screening of patients suitable for CRT based on merely clinical criteria may be sufficient in specific settings. However, we are of the opinion that this simplification could increase the number of non-responders to CRT: this issue is critical, and current research for the identification of responders is in active development. There is evidence that left intraventricular asynchrony detected at echocardiography may represent the best parameter for the identification of responders to CRT (3,4). Therefore, we are convinced that the selection of patients for CRT should necessarily include the evaluation of mechanical asynchrony, the latter representing the pathophysiologic substrate for resynchronization pacing in heart failure patients.

Effect of Angiotensin II on Blood Flow in Acute and Chronically Inflamed Knee Joints of Rabbits: The Role of Nitric Oxide
Background: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) upregulation in stromal cells of joints affected by rheumatoid arthritis may lead to higher tissue angiotensin II that is a vasoconstrictor and mitogen factor. To date, the role of angiotensin II on regulating blood flow in inflamed joints has not been studied. Methods: Acute and chronic joint inflammation was induced in rabbits by intra-articular...
متن کاملEndothelial Vasodilator Angiotensin Receptors are Changing in Mice with Ageing
Background: The vascular function of Angiotensin II-type-2 receptors in adults is controversial. We sought their location and function in mouse aortic rings at young and old mice. Materials and Methods: Male C57Bl mice (aged 4 and 14 months) were killed by CO2. The descending thoracic aorta was cleaned and dissected into rings. Aortic rings were mounted in Krebs’ solution at 37 °C an...
متن کاملاثر آنژیوتانسین II در هسته پاراونتریکولار در تشدیدآسیب ایسکمی- پرفیوژن مجدد کلیه
Background: The renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA) is enhanced in renal failure. Paraventricular nucleus in hypothalamus is an important central site to regulate sympathetic activity. There are angiotensin II (Ang) II receptors in this nucleus. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of angiotensin II in hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) on renal ischemia-reperfusion inj...
متن کاملAngiotensin-(1-7): beyond the cardio-renal actions.
It is well known that the RAS (renin-angiotensin system) plays a key role in the modulation of many functions in the body. AngII (angiotensin II) acting on AT1R (type 1 AngII receptor) has a central role in mediating most of the actions of the RAS. However, over the past 10 years, several studies have presented evidence for the existence of a new arm of the RAS, namely the ACE (angiotensin-conv...
متن کامل[New therapeutic targets for ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers].
Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-I) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) posses multiple beneficial effects such as cardioprotection, cerebroprotection, nephroprotection which provide opportunity to select the most suitable drug for the target vascular bed (e.g. coronary, or cerebral circulation). In some clinical settings, combined therapy ACE-I with ARB (double blockage of the...
